Bill Raising Truck Load Limits Along Gulf Coast Passed by Texas House
SB 1524 to allow permits to increase truck weight limits from 80,000 to 100,000 pounds on state roads only and disallow municipalities along the Gulf Coast from regulating their movement on state highways approved by TxDot was passed Thursday by the Texas House of Representatives.
Passage was applauded by Todd Staples at the Texas OIl and Gas Association: "Texas took a big step forward with the House passage on third reading of SB 1524 by Senator Robert Nichols and Rep. Geanie Morrison. SB 1524 anchors Texas at the epicenter of the multi-billion-dollar expansion of petrochemical manufacturing occurring in the United States, powered by the shale revolution.
"Smart public policy like SB 1524 improves safety and our roads, and allows Texas oil and natural gas to secure our economy, our environment and our future.
