Houston's Erin Energy Plans Nigerian Coastal Well Spud
Houston-based Erin Energy is expecting to add to its current production with a new well off the coast of Nigeria later this month.
The company says it's contacted Pacific Drilling to spud the Oyo-9 well in the Oyo field about 46 miles off the Nigerian coast and a driling rig is on its way to the location.
The well, at a rate of more than six thousand barrels per day, is expected to double Erin's production quota, which is currently based on the company's success with it's Oyo-8 well in the vacinity.
The Oyo field was discovered in 1995, among the first to be found off Nigeria's coast, with a drilling depth of about 1,345 feet.
