Texas High Speed Rail Legislation Moves Right Along: Quorum Report
Time is running out for a number of bills aimed at possibly derailing Texas Central's proposed high-speed rail project, but some continue moving through the process at a pace that is encouraging to those opposed to the Houston-to-Dallas rail project the Quorum Report said Monday.
"Four high speed rail bills received hearings in the House Transportation Committee
Thursday. They deal with things like prohibiting state dollars for private rail projects, elevation requirements for the tracks and bonds.
"The bills were all left pending.
"Three other Senate bills dealing with prohibiting state dollars for such projects, rail security and eminent domain authority have already passed through the upper chamber but have yet to receive House hearings," QR reported.
