Texas Senate Passes RRC Sunset Reauthorization Bill
A contentious House bill okaying the Railroad Commission of Texas for another 12 years was passed by the state Senate Tuesday.
HB 1818 from District 52 Representative Larry Gonzales passed the Senate 29-2.
The Texas Sunset Adviisory Commission made new recommendations last year when turning in its report, after the legislature failed to renew the commission in each session since 2010.
Bids to change the commission's name to the Texas Energy Resources Commission or Texas Energy Commission or to fold the commission into othe state agencies such as the PUC failed along the way, as the 125-year-old commission was subjected to intense study over the past years.
